IT Support Specialist

Job Summary
Responsible to carry out all day-to-day activities involving the delivery of internal IT services under the direction of the IT Manager, including but not limited to, hardware maintenance, desktop configuration, user support, software installation, network management, company communications, documentation and report writing.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing computer systems.
- Confer with personnel throughout the company to analyze operational procedures, identify potential problems, and learn specific input and output requirements, such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports.
- Assist in developing detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and where required, the steps required to develop or modify computer systems in support of such needs and review computer system capabilities and workflow to determine if proposed system changes are possible within existing system.
- Where directed will conduct internal studies and analysis pertaining to possible development of new applications to best meet current and projected needs.
- Assists in the preparation of technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals for use by company personnel, including the development of IT policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of time and cost estimates for completing IT projects.
- Assist in directing and coordinating work of others to develop, test, install, and modify programs as may be required.
- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of all network equipment.
- Assist in new application development, testing, documentation and implementation.
- Provide user support for day to day computing issues.
- Generally assist in all aspects involving the management of supplied IT Services throughout the company.
Primary Qualifications
- Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to multitask as needed.
- 1 – 3 years experience working in a IT support capacity.
- Familiarity with Windows 2003 Network environments.
- Familiarity with Windows XP Pro / 2000.
- Familiarity with Windows BackOffice products such as Exchange / SQL Server / Sharepoint Services.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- General Hardware and network technical knowledge
In addition to the foregoing primary qualifications, the following experience would be viewed as a distinct advantage:
- Current A+ Certification.
- Familiarity and/or involvement with ERP implementations and/or support with specific knowledge of INFOR‘s (Lilly) Visual Manufacturing ERP software being an advantage.
- Current Microsoft certification such as MOS, MCSE, MCSA, MCDST.
- Computer Systems Technology certificate and/or diploma from a recognized program.
- Familiarity with report writing software such as Crystal Reports, Gupta Report Builder or SQL 2005 Report services.
- Familiarity or involvement with Barcode scanning equipment.
- Telecommunications management (Phones, Switches, etc).
Relation of the position to others in the company
- Will need to interact with all departments.
